Sometimes relationships can be difficult, conflict and tension can arise and it can be hard find a resolution between the two of you. Friends and family can listen, but they often have their own points of view and opinions; and sometimes you just want to work out what is right for yourselves.
Relationship counselling offers you the opportunity to work through your difficulties in a safe and neutral space, with the support of a qualified counsellor.
When offering relationship counselling my aim is to create a safe therapeutic environment where you feel you can express your personal thoughts and feelings and really listen to each other; where you feel able to explore the emotional aspects of your relationship and look at how each of your individual experiences impact on your relationship as a whole.
Having counselling with your partner, taking time to really examine your relationship together, can enable you to resolve your differences, agree on a way to move forward together and start build a better relationship for the future.
Of course there are times when clients might decide that the best way forward is to split up, if this is the case for you then you may feel better knowing that you have spent some time really exploring your choices and decisions, rather than acting out of heightened emotion and impulse.
I have additional training in "Couples Counselling using the Arts", I believe it can be useful to bring creative exercises into relationship work which can offer a different perspective on the relationship and therefore further possibilities for change. We would discuss whether if this is something you would both like to try.
I have experience of working with clients of all gender identities and sexual orientations and also those in polyamorous and consensual non-manogamous relationships. All are welcome.
